Protecting yourself from the Covid 19

This is a really crazy time and it feel so surreal.. We need to protect ourselves as much as possible!

Having enough muscle to be able to do tasks for yourself can make you more able to deal with social isolation. For example, I just heard that seniors living independently and relying on care workers to come in to give them their weekly bath or shower will have to wait as it is not considered a necessity. Personal hygiene is a very important part of keeping healthy and feeling good in light of all that is going on around them. Muscle makes antibodies to help fight infection and allows your body to get a fever, which how the body defends itself of invaders, also is a symptom that indicates the presence of the virus.

Squats are one of the best exercises to maintain functional independence and if you get out of your chair every 15 min for only 90 seconds {which it is recommended by Joan Vernikos of “Sitting Kills and Moving Heals”} you will do about 50+ squats a day which is actually better than doing 3 sets of 15 or all in a row!!

Put some music on and dance around or sit and dance in your chair it can be that simple. Watch a funny show or movie or call a friend and laugh a little. This too shall pass, stay safe, eat well, drink lots of liquids!
